A few months ago my pal Mark commented on a seascape from Utila, and said, ‘We should try plein air painting’. So on Saturday we made our way to the Montara coast, where–after hiking past the ‘Dangerous Cliffs’ sign I promptly slid down the slope toward the Pacific, arms full of delicate and sharp painting implements. (Mark fared better, at left.) I recovered enough to produce something that made Lorraine say, ‘That looks like Montara beach’, below.


I almost forgot to mention that through the initiative and connectedness of Geoff D, we found that Montara Beach makes a pretty good site for a barbecue. That makes twice in one month that I showed up at Montara beach before 9 in the morning, without a volleyball net. Hope to get in one more outdoor beach fest this year…
