The French take as much care with their food as with their language. Still, it never hurts to have a few extra well-cooked salty potatoes to push a particularly bloody bit of hamburger and runny egg yolk down. Okay, so it actually tastes pretty good. I suppose I should solicit comments by asking, what’s the thing you enjoyed most that you anticipated least?

With my division all but shut down I was ready to clear out the snack bins and, with my year’s supply of Luna bars, start up my own business as a professional trainer. And then they assigned me to go to Paris for the summer. Did I stay? Well, duh.
