Montara Beach reconfigures itself every year. This year the north end divided itself into Left and Right Bank, and we established a level court on the unfashionable side. When Devil’s Slide decided to get a little cozier with the Pacific, we started the Montara VB triathlon: 1. battle traffic on 86; 2. hike through the iceplant; 3. ford the river (with the challenging 8-foot wall of sand on the far shore.
